Story of Kajari Teej fast (Kajari Teej Katha)
According to mythological beliefs, there lived a Brahmin who was very poor in a village. His wife kept a fast on Kajali Teej in the month of Bhadrapad. She told the Brahmin that she has kept a fast for Teej Mata. She needs gram flour, bring it from somewhere. The Brahmin asked the Brahmin that where will he get the flour. On this the Brahmin said that she needs flour, even if he steals or robs, he should bring flour for her.
It was night time. The Brahmin left his house and entered the moneylender’s shop. He took gram lentils, ghee, sugar from the moneylender’s shop and weighed 1.25 kg. He made sattu out of it. As soon as he was about to leave, all the servants of the shop woke up hearing the noise. All of them started shouting thief-thief loudly. The moneylender caught the Brahmin.
The poor brahmin said that he is not a thief, his wife has kept a fast for Teej Mata, so he had come only to make and take away 1.25 kg of sattu. When the moneylender searched the brahmin, he found nothing except sattu. Meanwhile, the moon had risen and the brahmin lady was waiting for sattu. The moneylender told the brahmin that from today onwards he will consider his wife as his religious sister.
He gave the Brahmin sattu, jewellery, money, mehendi, lachcha and lots of wealth and sent him off from the shop. Then everyone together worshipped Kajli Mata. Just as the Brahmin’s days became happy, similarly may the blessings of Kajli Mata remain on everyone.
